Markus was excited to start his new job as professor of Mythology at Durmstrang. Walking among the halls he looked over the list of students. He had noted what house they were in just for his own memory.
Deianira Seymour- Mork Ulv
Jack Dorsal- Mork Ulv
Sorin Markov- Isbjorn
Theron Hudson- Sjneret Katt
Midori Hyong- Isbjorn
The list in his opinion seemed a little small. He had really hoped there would’ve been a bit more interest in mythology seeing as they happened to be in an area steeped with mythology. Making his way to the fourth floor where the classroom was he opened the door and looked at the bleak room.
Letting out a small huff he placed the list of students on the teachers desk and pulled out his wand. Time for some charms work he thought as he flicked his wand opening up the windows. Weak winter sun filtered in giving the room some actual light. He quickly cleaned the desks with an easy cleaning spell. He could work on making the room look better later. He still needed to get the lesson up on the board before the class arrived.
Turning to the board he started writing up the plan for the day. Since he had no clue about what the previous teacher(s) had taught the class he decided on a simple quiz that everyone should be able to pass if they had paid attention in class. Of course if the grades were below passing he’d have to start at the beginning which wouldn’t hurt, but all the good stuff was after getting the basics out of the way. Good day class. I am your new mythology professor Markus Warren. Seeing as I have no clue where your past instructor(s) left off, today we will be taking a short quiz to see where everyone stands. Once you have finished the quiz please place it on my desk. You are free to leave after that or if you have any questions or concerns you may talk to me.
The Quiz
1). What is a creation myth?
2). Who was Balder in Norse mythology and how was he killed?
3). Jupiter is the Roman equivalent of whom in Greek mythology?
4). What is special about Atlantis?
5). Who is “maka” in Egyptian mythology?
Bonus question
1). What is the riddle of the Sphinx? (Not the answer, but the actual riddle)
Giving the test a final look over Markus nodded to himself. Everything seemed good. The questions would require the students to think which was what he wanted them to do. Leaning against the teachers desk he glanced at the time. The students would be here any minute.

((Alright for this lesson, I want at least a 150 word response. You will earn house points for your house for each correct answer. If you wish to speak with Professor Warren after class please say so at the end of your post and I will post once everyone has done their test. You have until Saturday December 15, 2012 to post here... unless you’ve talked it out with me ahead of time. Hope everyone enjoys this class))
