Shaylyn had to admit that she was surprised to receive the owl from Soras asking her to meet her for some girl time. It had been awhile since her and Soras had even had a legitimate conversation, even since Shay and Cayden had broken up and that had been…probably a month. She wasn’t even really sure anymore. She wasn’t really counting how long the two of them had been broken up, since she had been too busy spending all of her time with Zakaria and trying to stay as far away from Cayden as humanly possible. And since Cayden and Soras were such good friends, that meant Soras and Shay really had no time together, despite still being friends and all.
She had to leave a little bit earlier than she would have wanted to, just based on the fact that she couldn’t apparate very well just yet and in case she ended up in the wrong place, she wanted to be able to have time to spare so she wasn’t late. She took the ferry to Vakkar, keeping her eyes closed for the better part of the ride so that she didn’t have to see the water underneath. Shay hated water, it was a known fact, but the ferry was the only way to get into Vakkar from the school so she just had to bear through it. Once in Vakkar, she tried her best at apparating to Lom In Jotunheimen, and she was really surprised that she actually made it in her first try. She was still on time, so she quickly made her way to the café that she was supposed to be meeting Soras at and of course she was already there waiting. Hey. It’s been a long time. She said with one of her huge smiles before going over to give her a hug.

Soras smiled when Shay came into the cafe and jumped up and gave her a hug. I know! My gosh, I've missed you a lot. She felt really bad because she had been so wrapped up in her life when Cayden and Shay broke up that she hadn't even bothered to listen to Shay's side of the story and took everything Cayden said at face value. I hope you don't mind that I asked you to meet me here...I don't know how Cayden would react if he saw us together in Vakkar...or Rolige Byen. I love Cayden like a brother but since he's gotten with Chrissy...and broken up with Chrissy, well....I don't know.. She shrugged.
She wasn't really talking with Krystyna anymore, they had drifted apart due to the whole dating Cayden thing. Sure Soras had approved but she had told them that if they broke up that she would be done with being part of the trio. She knew that Cayden would be clueless as to how their separating would be for Krystyna, for him it would be mutual but for her it would be gut wrenching and Soras would have to put up with it. Soras ordered a latte for her and Shay before looking up at her. Okay...so a lot has happened since last time we talked...well. She let out a breath before grinning and saying showing her left hand, I'm engaged....and I was wondering if you would be my maid of honor.
She grinned at Shay and hoped that Shay would say yes, We're having a night time wedding so Zakaria can be there if you want. I'm sure that Skylar.... She winked, Stargazer would even want him to be in the wedding party. She smiled at Shay and knew that her secret would be safe with Shay.

Shaylyn happily returned Soras’s hug when she came up to her. It really had been so long since they had seen each other outside of class and it was depressing to Shay that it was because of Cayden. I’ve missed you too! She said with a huge smile as she hugged her tightly. As the hug broke and they took their seats, Soras apologized for having them meet so far away but Shay just smiled. Oh its fine. I don’t particularly want to know what Cayden would do if he saw us hanging out so it’s probably better if we hang out far away from where he would ever go. She was still trying to avoid Cayden like the plague no matter how long it had been since the whole incident and going to a muggle town was probably the best way to do that since he most likely would never have a reason to come here. It did surprise her to hear that Cayden had broken up with the girl he started dating after her, since from what she had heard they were pretty serious. It looked like they were going to end up together from what she had heard but it really didn’t matter to her what he was doing these days so she didn’t even really care to ask about what happened or anything.
After Soras ordered them both a latte, she looked over at her like she had something serious to tell her. It could have been anything really since the two of them hadn’t talked in probably more than a month and any number of things can happen in that amount of time. As Soras took a deep breath before speaking, Shay did get a bit worried about what she could possibly tell her, but when she told her that she had gotten engaged and asked her to be her maid of honor, Shay couldn’t help but let out a happy squeal and jump up and hug her again quickly before sitting back down. Oh my goodness! Congratulations! I’m so happy for you! And I’d be so honored to be your maid of honor! She said all in one excited breath, eventually taking a gasp of air after she finished saying everything.
When Soras mentioned it was going to be a night time wedding, she was a bit confused as to why she brought up Zakaria since no one really knew that the two of them were together. But once she finished her sentence and told her that Skylar was the man she was engaged to it all made sense of course. So you’re the one Skylar had mentioned! That is so cute and I’m so happy for both of you! I swear I said that already but…yeah…its so cute. Sure she knew Skylar was a professor and what not but Shay really didn’t care like most people probably would. Who was she to say anything anyway? The age difference between Skylar and Soras wasn’t nearly as drastic as the one between Shay and Zakaria, and when you fall for someone it didn’t really matter the age really in Shay’s mind.

Soras grinned as Shay told her that she missed her. She couldn't believe that she had ever chosen Cayden over Shay. She smiled as Shay sat across from her, Cayden is just...well Cayden. He would probably go bat shit crazy on us and try to kill us. She said matter of factly. She shrugged a little and said, Or maybe he's just to preoccupied with his break up from...Krystyna. She sighed and rolled her eyes, Probably not though, she's the one who is taking it hard. He isn't. She realized that Shay probably didn't want to hear about Cayden and gave Shay an apologetic look, Sorry. I am sure you don't really want to know about whats going on with him. I just can't talk to anyone about it you know? Word gets around and then I'd be up the creek without a paddle.
Soras was getting anxious while waiting for Shay to answer. She knew that Shay was with Skylar's brother Zakaria who was also a vampire, she found Shay to be very brave and thought she would make an excellent Gryffindor. When Shay said yes Soras's smile lit up and she beamed at her friend. Oh thank you Shay! I couldn't see anyone else being my Maid of Honor. She sipped her latte and crossed her legs under the table.
Soras nodded, she was glad that Skylar was keeping up the pretenses of not naming who he was going to marry but rather keeping up the secret. Thank you. I'm happy that I met him. Now that we've gotten the major thing out of the way. Its time to catch up...aaand go look at wedding dresses and bridesmaid gowns. She sipped her latte again and said, So how have you been?

Shay couldn’t help but shudder slightly when Soras said with all seriousness that Cayden would probably try to kill them if he saw them hanging out. She really didn’t want to think about Cayden’s wrath at the moment since she was still basically watching her every step to make sure she wasn’t around him without supervision in case he decided to actually kill her like he said he would. Although, it was proving easier to just spend all of her free time indoors away from where he could find her…and be with Zakaria every moment she possibly could. With a sigh of relief, Shay felt a lot better when Soras stopped mentioning Cayden and apologized. Oh no, it’s totally fine. I’m just still…a bit nervous whenever he’s around or even mentioned really. Did he tell you what happened with us or did you just get the condensed version that made him look good? She asked curiously. She really hadn’t talked to anyone who talked to Cayden recently so she had no idea what exactly had been said about her.
Shay was so surprised that Soras asked her to be her Maid of Honor but Soras actually seemed worried that she wouldn’t say yes. But she had no idea why she wouldn’t say yes, since it was an amazing honor for someone to ask that of her. No, thank you! I can’t believe you even asked me, honestly. I was sure you had more friends that you’re probably closer with since we really haven’t talked since well… She drifted her sentence off as she took a sip of her latte before continuing. But seriously, I am honored that you asked me and I’ll do the best job as your Maid of Honor that I possibly can. She said, smiling brightly.
She was so excited to help Soras pick out her wedding dress and bridesmaid’s dresses. She had never really done anything like this before and really didn’t expect to until someone like Mikayla got married, if of course she got to be her Maid of Honor, so she hoped she did a good job. Unlike with most clothes that she was a failure at helping people pick out, she did have a thing for dresses and she knew she could at least contribute to being a help. When Soras asked how she had been, she had to think for a second as she sipped her latte. Hmm…I’ve been good. I want to say great but it’s really been 50/50. I really haven’t had a lot of freedom to do many things like this, hanging out with friends and such, but I do spend every moment I possibly can with Zakaria and that does make up for it. She said, a blush forming across her cheeks as she mentioned Zak. What about you? How have you been? I feel like it’s been forever since we talked last.

Soras smiled at Shay before answering, Well he gave me the condensed version but I figured it all out when Skylar told me that you were seeing his brother. She looked at her a little guiltily before sipping her latte. Cayden is the type of guy who doesn't let people get away. So the fact that you got away well I think it really hurt his ego. But enough about him. On to wedding plans.
Soras smiled and said, Well I missed you and you have always been a true friend to me. I couldn't ask Krystyna because well she is Krystyna. You never know what mood she is going to be in. Besides. You'll look prettier in the colors and you know how to stay on track. You're the best choice there is. She winked and said, I know you'll do the best Maid of Honor ever! I couldn't see anyone else being my Maid of Honor. She knew that Shay was reliable and she trusted Shay more than anyone else.
Soras listened to her friend talk about how she'd been and nodded. She shrugged and said, Well I've been busy with school, planning my new business, planning my wedding piece by piece and I've been mainly keeping to myself. I find myself preferring to be alone you know what I mean? I've been spending time with Skylar of course. I can't believe I'm marrying him. She said with a slightly dreamy look on her face.

Shay listened as Soras explained what she had heard and everything and she was glad that she had gotten the better, probably more truthful story from Skylar before jumping to any conclusions. She was sure Cayden told her some version of the story that made him seem like the hurt victim and then entirely left out the part where he nearly tried to kill her in the dungeons. Shay still thanked Zakaria every day for coming to her rescue that day…if he hadn’t, she had no idea what might have happened. She was thankful that Soras changed the subject to something way more pleasant to talk about. She did feel bad that she was going to be her Maid of Honor instead of her best friend Krystyna, but at the same time, if this Krystyna wasn’t dependable or something then maybe it was better that Soras chose Shay.
Well I really am glad you picked me. I’ll be the most on track person you could possibly think of. By the way, what colors did you choose? She asked excitedly. Shay listened to Soras tell her how she’d been and even though she said she had been keeping to herself a lot, it still seemed to be a lot more fun than Shay had been having all lonesome and confined from society. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you meet Skylar? I know he’s a professor here but you had to have known him longer than just the few months we’ve been in school. I mean, I know he just transferred here from Hogwarts like my cousin Mikayla did so he hasn’t been here long either. She said, rambling on a bit, though she wasn’t really trying to.
