It was the end of Charms class and Adonia’s head was still spinning from the class. Sure, since Professor Setälä had given her a bit of an advantage, Adonia still found it a bit confusing. She sighed a little and then pulled out her brand new iPod that her father had gotten for her, probably just because to show her mother that he can buy her fancy things. Sure, it did suck having to take the gift, but at the same time, Adonia wanted something like this for a long time and she also loves listening to music.
Popping in the headphones and deciding she wanted something soothing to listen to, she shuffled through her albums and found Josh Groban, then choosing the song Hymne A L’Amour. Adonia didn’t know how to speak French, but she listened to the song so many times that she knew the words. When she looked up what it had meant, to her, it seemed like a guy that would do anything for the woman that he loved, but as the song ends, he says that if she died and left far from him, he would die too and they would have eternity to themselves in heaven, no more problems. He asks his love if she believes if they love each other, then thevery last line states that God reunites those who love each other. Adonia thought that it was cute, but at the same time, it seems a little drastic to her if he killed himself for his love. But overall, cute song.
The brown eyed girl finally started to pack up her things for the day while humming the song under her breath.

Elias sighed as class ended. It had gone about how he figured it would. About half the class had gotten the hang of the disillusionment charm while the other half, while their book work was good, they still hadn’t grasped the concept of how to perform it on another person. He had to step in on about 3 groups, to…intervene, for lack of a better word, before things got too out of hand. One person however had surpassed the entire class, getting excellent marks on both disillusioning and reillusioning her partner. But of course, it was Adonia, the girl who he had tutored the week before. She really was a sweet girl and he was proud of her for doing so well after one session of tutoring but even after all the private work, she still seemed a bit confused by what they had been doing, even if it was just the slightest. He had this idea, to give her weekly tutoring sessions on what they would be learning before the rest of the class, just so she could have a better understanding of the assignments.
It didn’t hurt that he also found her to be very cute, but she was a student and that was against the rules on so many levels. He watched the rest of the class file out, but Adonia was one of the last to leave for some reason. He figured he should probably ask her now, about the tutoring thing, and he had an idea of how to do that. Miss Theodosia, could you come here for a moment? He asked, quietly…although he wasn’t sure if she could hear him since he just realized she had headphones in.

Almost to the door, Adonia thought that she had heard her name… it came to her ears as something muffled. Puzzled, she turned around to only find that she was the last one in the classroom, which meant that it was her professor that had said her name. Adonia took out her headphones and looked at the professor a little embarrassed. [red]”Sorry, professor.[/red] She made her way to the front of the classroom.
As Adonia was walking to the front of the class, those butterflies started to flutter around in her chest. After the tutoring session last week, Adonia couldn’t seem to stop thinking about the professor… the handsome professor… but she had to mentally shake that thought from her head because if she did start liking him, nothing can happen since everyone knows that student-professor relationships where a big no-no in any situation. Even in muggle worlds it was.
When she reached up to Professor Setälä, Adonia looked up at him and tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear. [red]”You’re lucky I heard the very hint of my name cause otherwise, I would have walked right out of the classroom. Next time I will wait until Im out the door before putting my headphones in.”[/red] She said with a smile. [red]”Whats up?”[/red] She asked as she stuffed her iPod into her pocket.

It took Adonia a little while to notice that Elias has spoken to her. He was right in thinking that her music was probably too loud for her to hear him over and he thought about calling her name again. She was the last one in class and he didn’t have any classes for the rest of the day so if by some chance she did just leave without hearing him, he could go after her to talk to her and it really wouldn’t be a big deal or anything. He just hoped he wouldn’t have to do that. Finally after a bit, she noticed and apologized before taking her headphones out and coming up to his desk. Adonia looked nervous, although she really didn’t have to be, as far as he knew.
Elias chuckled when she told him he was lucky she heard him. Yeah I guess I am lucky but you’re right, next time you might want to wait until you’re back in your dorm to take that out. Muggle devices are banned at this school, you could get into some serious trouble if one of the other professors catch you with it. He said with an eyebrow raised, emphasizing the fact that he said “the other professors”. He wouldn’t get her in trouble for it of course, but a lot of the other staff here were really strict on those rules and she would get worse than detention for something like that. Anyway, what I wanted to talk to you about was the possibility of weekly private tutoring lessons. I know you have a hard time with my subject and I want every one of my students to succeed no matter what it takes. He said with a smile before clearing his throat. He was nervous to ask her the next part and he had no idea why. It wasn’t like he was trying to hit on her or anything…this was a professional matter. I was wondering if you would like to join me in town this afternoon for a coffee so we can discuss the details of your tutoring sessions and, perhaps talk a little. He asked, trying to hide the nervousness in his voice.

Muggle devices were banned from the school??? Really?? This threw Adonia for a loop. She must have missed reading that part in the handbook or whatever she got in the beginning of the year. With a mental shoulder shrug, Adonia didn’t care, she could hide the wires or something so that she wouldn’t get caught. Adonia needed the music to relax and such. Plus, it was her last year here. But she did catch the emphasize on the “other professors” part. Neat, he was going to let her slide on it… which was very nice of him.
[red]”Private lessons? Really? That would be really nice of you to do that for me, but I just hope I wont be a waste of your time.”[/red] Which Adonia really doubted it, which was really coincided of her to think, but it was true. Adonia was a smart girl and she learned quickly… just not on this subject. [red]”You’re actually a really kind teacher to make sure all of the students pass.”[/red] She said with a smile on her face.
The next part about asking her to coffee to talk about the private lessons and to talk a little, Adonia squinted her eyes cause did she catch a little nervousness in his voice? It seemed like he tried to hide it, but she could her a slightness in it. Adonia had good ears. Like an eagle, her father used to tell her. Lifting her strap to book back which was falling off her shoulder, Adonia nodded her head. [red]”Yeah that sounds good to me. What time would you like to meet up? This was my last class of the day to be honest with you.”[/red] smiling again. Adonia’s heart was beating fast… why?

Based on her expression, Adonia seemed surprised to hear that muggle devices were banned here at Durmstrang and her surprise surprised him. Were they not banned at Beauxbatons? He thought he was sure at least muggle electronics were banned at all wizarding schools, or at least they were at the Brazilian Wizarding School he taught at before this. Sure, the policies there weren’t nearly as extreme as they were here, but still, it was something. He hoped she took his advice and kept it out of sight or she could face some serious consequences.
Elias frowned slightly when she said she hoped she wouldn’t waste his time. He knew she was smart and based on the rest of her grades she could probably do whatever she wanted when she finished, it was just this one subject that might hold her options back if she didn’t, well, do a little bit better at it. I know you have the potential to do something great with your life and I don’t want to see your record tainted by your little, well, problem with my class. As long as you do as well as you did last time and today in class, I can see this subject coming easier to you with each lesson and eventually, you won’t even need my help. He said with a slight smirk. He had tutored many students in the past and that was usually the case when it came to his lessons; after a couple of months of lessons, they usually got the knack for charms and went on their way.
He really hoped that she hadnt noticed the slight nervousness in his voice. He tried to hide it as best as he could, and that was pretty good in his opinion but he knew there were some people out there who could just pick up on subtle things like that, no matter how hard people tried to hide it. Although, he couldn’t help but notice that when she said yes, his heart began beating a bit faster and he had no idea why…he hadn’t expected her to say no but he was worried she might. Well, if this is your last class why don’t we just go there together? We just have to walk to the edge of the property near the lake and I can apparate us to the café. This is my last class too actually so it would work for me as well. He said smiling back her, his blue eyes catching the light in the room just enough to make them sparkle slightly.

Nodding her head, Adonia agreed with Professor Setälä. It may get easier and easier. She had total confidence in that now and now she made her goal make sure she got the hang of it where she didn’t want to have Professor Setälä anymore around… but… why did she now feel like a sadness in her heart thinking of not being around the professor anymore? This girl needed to get a grip on her feelings and let it go. He is a grown man who probably doesn’t even like teenage girls. Clearing her throat, [red]”Sounds good to me.”[/red] she said with a fake smile on her face while battling the emotions under her skin.
His eyes… gosh, they seemed to sparkle right now, which distracted Adonia and made her stare into them a little longer than necessary. Shaking her head and looking down now, she cleared her throat again and looked back up to him. [red]”Yeah that sounds good, but I do know how to appartate. I learned at my last school last year. Obviously, I got a good grade in it and I passed. Plus, I can use magic now since I am past seventeen years old.”[/red] She said with a smile in her voice and on her tan face. Leaving her bag on the table, Adonia performed a spell where her bag would magically end up in her dorm room. It was a simple charm where her ex-boyfriend had taught her since it would come in handy a lot. [red]”You ready to go?”[/red]

Elias was glad that Adonia now seemed to have a bit more confidence in the subject than she did before. In all of his years of teaching, he had never had a student completely fail out of his class and that was something he was very proud of. Sure there were some that really didn’t grasp the concept and didn’t do very well on their OWLs or pass onto NEWTs and decided to drop this subject as soon as it was no longer required but no one ever failed…he made sure of that. Charms really wasn’t for everybody but it was useful to know and helped with everyday life.
Elias noticed her look into his eyes a little bit longer than she probably should have but for some reason he didn’t mind all that much. He looked back into her brown eyes for a moment and might have felt the slightest bit of a connection with the girl, even though they really didn’t know much about each other and she was such a great deal younger than him. He snapped out of it as she did and looked down at his desk as she accepted his offer but told him she knew how to apparate herself. Either way, it works. We’ll only really be going as far as Vakkar to a little coffee shop near the edge of town. It’s not one most people go to but I swear they have better coffee than any of the bigger shops anywhere. He said with a smile as he got up from his desk. He watched her send her bag off back to her room and couldn’t help but wonder. I am ready…but I can’t help but wonder…you pulled that charm off so easily but that is actually a bit more complicated than some of the other stuff we had been working on before. What makes that one easier for you than others? He asked as he lead her out of the room, locking his classroom up as they exited.

Mmm… coffee was something that Adonia could really go for at the moment. It had been so long since she has had any. For some reason, Adonia thought the coffee at the school was a little different than the one they served at Beauxbatons shops and stuff. Maybe at the other place, Adonia could look at the selections and find something similar. But she hadn’t really been out to go look for coffee shops. She was just still getting used to the school. Sometimes she thought that she needed a map to get to certain classes, but she was slowly catching up on the different routes.
As he watched Adonia use the charm to get her back to the different part of the castle, Adonia walked with him out the door as he closed it. Then he asked her about the charm and how come she could use that one so easily. As she was thinking of her answer, Adonia had caught a glimpse of the weather outside. The snow was gently falling on the ground and the trees leaves catching different patterned snowflakes… Adonia sure did love the snow as much as she loved coffee… thinking that she was silent a little too long, Adonia cleared her throat, [red]”Oh… umm…[/red] Nerves started kick in her stomach… but why? [red]”I used to date someone back at Beauxbatons and he was really smart in charms and there, I was taking a lot of classes and I always kept running back up and down to my dorm to switch out my books. He decided to teach me the charm to make my things disappear to where I want them, and I can also make them come to me too.”[/red] She smiled a little bit. [red]”Trust me, it took a long time for it to get that one down.”[/red]
As they reached outside, Adonia opened the door for him and saw that there was other kids playing out in the snow and it made her smile and think about her uncle… he loved to play in the snow sometimes. He even made a snowman to look like a muggle singer called… Elvis Presley she thinks he was called.

As the two of them walked, he couldn’t help but glance over at her every now and then. She really was cute, but he definitely wouldn’t act on it. This was purely a teacher/student relationship, besides, she he was probably about 10 years older than her…he would probably just come off as a creepy old guy if he even hinted that he might be interested in her, legal or not. As he asked her about the charm she used, for some reason Elias didn’t expect the answer she had given. So it was an ex-boyfriend who had taught her the charm. That did explain why it came to her so easily. She was able to associate the charm with a happy experience so therefore it locked it into her mind with more ease. Even if it took you a long time to master, you still mastered it. All it takes it a great deal of practice just like I said so you’re definitely not a total failure at charms whether you think so or not. He said, ruffling her hair slightly in a playful way.
They walked the rest of the way mostly in silence; the only sounds around were just their shoes crunching on the snow on the ground. Elias didn’t mind the snow and the cold, since he had grown up around it and been around it most of his life. The only time he hadn’t been around this climate was when he was teaching in Brazil for the couple of years he did that. He cleared his throat as they got nearer to the edge of the grounds, just trying to break the silence. So how do you like Durmstrang so far? Is it different from Beauxbatons?

Adonia started to blush slightly when the professor said that she wasn’t a total failure at charms and then ruffled her hair… which thankfully covered her blush. Did he see it? That would have been totally embarrassing if she had. But what kept going through her mind as they walked through the snow, Adonia kept thinking of him and her being together, as a couple… but darn it, she had to stop thinking that cause it will never happen… at all.
The crunching of the snow beneath their feet had caught her out of her daze and looked up at Professor Setälä. The side view of his face and also the sun hitting it at the right moment made him look even more handsome… his cheeks and his nose a bit flushed from the frigid air… his hair nicely done and him in his jacket… just beautiful like a sculpture…
Hearing of clearing of the throat, which was the handsome sculptor next to this girl who was definitely out of his league, it popped her out of fantasyland and she heard the question leave his lips, asking if she was liking Durmstrang and if it was different than Beauxbatons. Shaking her head slightly, Adonia then nodded her head, [red]”I think this school is ok so far. I haven’t really made any friends so far. The longest I talked to anyone here has only been you.”[/red] She shrugged in her jacket and continued, [red]”Beauxbatons is different from here. There, it seems more elegant and more posh than here. Here, it seems to be a lot laid back and the classes sometimes confuse me because we have different names of them there. Like Potions class is here, but in Beauxbatons, its called Elixir. Defense Against the Dark Arts is called Dark Wizard Defense… yours is just too long to say.”[/red] Adonia said with a laugh at the end of the sentence.
They had finally reached then end of the grounds, they could now apparate to the village to where they are going to get some hot refreshments. Looking around, she could see the trees all with snow on them, the birds flying in the air as a pair of them were lagging behind cause it looked like they were goofing around. A slight smile went onto Adonia’s face, but then looked to Elias. [red]”So… how do we do this? Do you have to apparate me? I’m over the age here to do magic.”[/red]

Elias listened to Adonia as she told him how she felt about the school. He felt bad though, that she hadnt made many friends yet but he just chalked it up to her only being here for a little while and students here didn’t take too well to new people right away. Or at least, that’s what he had seen so far. He hadnt been here that long either but that’s what he had noticed, especially with the muggleborns joining the student body this year. I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t made any friends and now I feel bad that I’ve been taking up time you could have been using to meet people. You don’t have to hang out with me, boring old teacher and all. He said with a shrug. He did feel bad that he was taking up more of her free time than he probably needed to, but he’d rather be here spending time with her than anywhere else right now truthfully.
He listened to her explain the differences between Beauxbatons and Durmstrang and nodded when appropriate. I get what you mean. The last school I taught at had different names for some of the classes, although most of the names were in Portuguese. I went to school here though in my youth so I knew what to expect when I came back. He said with a small shrug, glancing over at her in the corner of his eye. The way the sun hit her face, it was almost breathtaking. He had to look away quickly to keep himself from staring. As they reached the edge of the grounds, he was shaken out of his thought as she asked him how they were going to get there. I think it would be easier for me to just apparate both of us, so we both end up at exactly the same spot. But if you prefer to do it yourself I can tell you where to meet me… He said, holding out his arm hesitantly for her to take if she chose to.

Adonia felt bad now too that Professor Setala said that he was taking up her time hanging with him. Well, in truth, she liked hanging out with Professor Setala. He seemed like a great guy who seemed to care about the students and she did want her grades to improve, but in general, she did just want to hang with him. There was something about him that attracted Adonia to him. [red]”Don’t feel bad at all. My grades sometimes come first in everything I do, then it comes friends. So hanging out with you is something I like to do and choose to do.”[/red] She said with a smile on her face, [red]”Plus, you arent old at all. You have to be like 26 or 27 years old.”[/red]
Professor Setala taught at a different school? Adonia didn’t know that… but obviously, she is new here and wouldn’t have known in the first place. [red]”Oh you were somewhere else after here? Where? And what made you come back to this school?”[/red] Adonia wondered since it was his home. Maybe one day Adonia could go back to her home with her father, but sometimes, she didn’t know. His parents weren’t on the best terms with each other.
Adonia saw his arm out. Maybe it would be better if we went together. Don’t want to end up somewhere else. She thought to herself as in the next moment, she took hold of his arm. [red]”I am ready when you are.”[/red] Suddenly, she felt the pressure behind her navel and in a moment, they have arrived at a cute little village like area. Kind of like Beauxbatons, but they had to travel a little far to get to it. Beautiful. Adonia thought to herself. Looking around, she needed to find a little coffee place, she was getting a little cold. Sticking her hands into her pockets, Adonia looked around and saw a little sign that read, Mad Hatters Coffee Shop. Smiling, it reminded Adonia of a muggle story called Alice in Wonderland. Her father read that book so many times to her when she was younger. It was her favorite. Turning to Professor Setala, she said, [red]”How about that Mad Hatters Coffee shop?”[/red]

In truth, Elias was glad to hear that Adonia really didn’t mind spending the extra time with him because he really liked spending time with her, even if it was just for school purposes. Sure, a little voice in the back of his mind was telling him that he wanted this to be more than just him tutoring her every now and then, but he was trying to push that away. She was a student after all, and legal adult or not, it was against the rules. I’m glad to hear that your studies come first. I was like that myself when I was in school. I didn’t have a great deal of friends because I was always making sure my grades were in tip top shape. I do regret that a bit sometimes, but I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t kept on top of everything back then. He couldn’t help but chuckle slightly when she guessed his age. Close, close. I’m 28 actually. Almost 30…scary thought… He said with a bit of an exaggerated shudder. He wasn’t afraid to turn 30 or anything, but he was annoyed that the age seemed to sneak up on him.
He nodded slightly as she asked about where he taught before this. Yes, I taught at the Brazillian School of Wizardry for a couple of years before I got the position to teach here. Durmstrang had always been my dream job but when I was finally old enough to have it, there was still another professor in that position. I interned with him for a few years, got offered that job at the other school, took it for a few years, and when that professor retired, I hopped on the opportunity before anyone else could.
Elias was glad when she took his arm and as she did, he apparated with her to Vakkar, landing just near the end of the street where the coffee shop was. As she suggested the Mad Hatter shop, he smirked and began leading her in that direction. Yes, that was the one I had in mind. Their cappuccino is delicious there… He said as he held the door open for her.
