Victor sat in his office when an letter appeared on his desk. He opened it, it was from the Head Master Adonis Stark requesting that he come to Durmstrang for a private consultation with a student. Victor's interest was taken hold and he read more. The student was named Aydin E. Bennett and he was highly ambitious. As he read more on Aydin's file he discovered that he was excelling in his classes and that he had the ambition to become an Auror. Adonis continued on with saying that he figured that Victor would be a good mentor for Aydin after looking at Victor's track record for being a fast rising HoA and an even faster MoM. Victor gave a small smile and folded up the letter and placed it in his jacket pocket. He adjusted his glasses and stepped outside of his office and looked at his assistant. Hold my messages for me. I'm going to Durmstrang on important business. He then apparated out of the office and landed softly on the grass in front of the Durmstrang castle. He walked into the building and took a turn for the great hall which was where Adonis had told him to go. He walked in and sat down at one of the tables and pulled out his parchment and a quill along with a bottle of ink and sat waiting patiently for Aydin to come to the great hall.

Aydin really wasn’t sure if he was reading the letter he held in his hand correctly. He had read the think probably 70 times since he got it about half an hour ago but it still didn’t make sense. The Headmaster had recommended him to the Minster of Magic himself for a mentorship. It didn’t really seem real actually. Since he was a young lad, he had dreamed of someday becoming the Minster of Magic himself but he figured that dream was way out of reach for him. Right now, he was aiming at becoming either a professional Quidditch player or an auror….or both. He saw nothing wrong with being both though. However, if he could someday become all three things, his life would basically be complete. Topping that off with getting married to Neko in a couple of months, his life was amazing. After he finally comprehended that the letter told him to be in the Great Hall at almost the time it was now, he rushed off, kissing Neko goodbye and headed in that direction. He was so nervous he felt like he was shaking and sweating and he really hoped he didn’t mess this whole thing up. As he reached the door, he took a deep breath, shook his entire body to get rid of some of the nerves, and finally opened the door, seeing the Minster of Magic himself sitting there waiting for him. He walked up to the table nervously, but once he reached him his natural confidence started to pick back up and his professional attitude kicked in. [orange]Mr. Minster. It’s an honor to meet you in person. [/orange] He said calmly holding his hand out to give a firm handshake.

Victor had gotten to Durmstrang a tad bit early so he wasn't freaking out that Aydin hadn't appeared just yet. He made note that the boy was a prefect for his alum house and couldn't help but smile. Victor had been prefect and even head boy back in his day. He had also noted that Aydin was registered as a Half-blood. He had more in common with this boy than he even knew. He looked up as the doors open and saw Aydin walking towards him. He could see the confidence growing in him as he walked towards Victor and Victor gave him a small smile. Victor stood up and took Aydin's hand in his in a firm handshake. He noted that Aydin had a strong grip which was promising. You must be Aydin Bennett. Its a pleasure to meet you as well. He motioned for Aydin to sit, Please sit down we have much to discuss. He sat down and looked at the menu and ordered water and pumpkin juice and some food. My favorite thing about Durmstrang when I was younger was that you could just order your food from the tables, rather than trying to sneak into the Kitchens...although as I recall I did that too. He grinned at Aydin and took a glass and poured some water into it from a jug that had just appeared. He took a long drink and then said, So I am assuming that Headmaster Stark has informed you that you have been selected to be mentored by the Minister himself. He looked at his parchment and gathered his quill in his hand and placed it on the parchment. So I guess the best place to start is a simple question...where do you see yourself in 10 years. There is no right or wrong answer just speak from the heart. He poised himself, he was ready to take notes as soon as Aydin started talking. He had never mentored a student before. Sure he gave advice to Kristen every now and then but he had never given someone student age advice about anything. He wanted to make the most of this, this kid seemed bright and he liked that.

As confident as Aydin might have looked, on the inside he was pretty much freaking out. He was in the same room as the Minster of freaking Magic and he was actually going to be his mentor. This could do complete wonders for his career in the near future, even though he wasn’t entirely sure what he wanted; well, he was, but he wasn’t sure how he was going to squeeze all of those things into one lifetime. Although, his now that he was with Neko, his lifetime had been extended by like, an eternity so…maybe he could. As he shook the Minister’s hand, he hoped his handshake was as firm and professional as he was trying for, because strong firm handshakes were the best way to make a good impression. He nodded to confirm that he was indeed himself and took a seat across from the Minster. He was so intimidated by the power the man in front of him held…he controlled EVERYTHING about the magical community in Norway and Aydin was so envious of that power. He wasn’t going to lie, he wanted his job someday, and he knew that meant he was going to have to work super hard to even get a shot at it. [orange]Yes sir…I received my letter earlier. I had no idea I was even in line for such a momentous honor. It’s just…really hard to process it all. [/orange] He said honestly. Aydin honestly hoped he wasn’t sounding too much like a suck up since that was really not what he was trying to do. He was speaking from the heart. Next thing he knew, he was being asked what he wanted to do in 10 years…and he really wasn’t sure what he should say. He knew what he wanted but he didn’t want to sound overly ambitious…but what was the harm in that really right now? [orange]What I’m really hoping to do is become an auror…but I also would like to play Quidditch professionally. And honestly, somewhere down the line, I want to be Minster of Magic. But I’m pretty sure that’s not possible to accomplish all in one lifetime, no matter how much I want to. [/orange] He said, watching the Minster as he took notes on what Aydin was saying.

Victor smiled when Aydin said it was an honor. I can imagine, when I was your age if the Minister informed me that he was going to mentor me...I think I would have passed out from sheer shock. Fortunately the Minister and I became fast friends when I became an Auror. He hoped that Aydin would be a promising student for him to mentor. He could see that Aydin was a bit nervous as he spoke about what he wanted to be an Auror, a Quidditch Player, and eventually the Minister of Magic and he grinned. It's quite rare to see such ambition in a sixth year. I like it! So if you could start out anywhere where it would be? If I were you, I'd go with being a Quidditch player first. Auror's are always accepting aplications now, and you can be any age to be an Auror..well once you come of age that it. Quidditch only accepts certain ages...As for the Minister of Magic... He paused and wrote some more notes on the parchment, It is quite do-able, especially if you go for being a quidditch player first, it will help with the popular vote. He nodded and continued to write notes down. So Aydin tell me about yourself, your friends, your relationships, what's your favorite subject to study, your position on your team, if you could do anything with your free time what would it be? Victor smiled and then continued by saying, The whole purpose of being a mentor is that I get to know you so I can help you make important choices that will help direct you to the right choices. If you ever have questions or a crisis you can always get a hold of me. Victor really liked the boy and felt that this was a great idea and would have to thank the Head Master for allowing him the opportunity to mentor a bright young man.

Aydin thought hard for a moment as the Minster asked which of his choices he’d like to pursue first. As he thought, he listened to the Minster’s suggestion and it did make sense, since even though Aydin knew what he wanted to do, he never really considered what order her would like to do them in. Of course Minster of Magic would be last, when he had been an Auror for quite a few years…and logically Quidditch player would be the choice to go with first. [orange]I think you’re right about playing Quidditch first, since there is only so much of a window that I would be able to do that in. Plus, playing Quidditch professionally for a few years would put me in top physical condition to be an Auror.[/orange] He said with a hopeful smile. His grin only got wider when he was told it was completely doable for him to become Minster of Magic someday…and even more so if he were to play Quidditch first. [orange]It means so much to hear that from you. I always thought my dream of becoming Minster of Magic was completely out of reach…but if you think I can actually do it, wow…I can’t even wrap my head around it. [/orange] He said, running a hand through his hair for a moment as he, glanced down at the notes that were being written. Even though he knew that there would be a lot of questions on this interview of sorts, he was a bit hesitant to tell the Minster a few things about his life…but it wasn’t like he was going to lie. [orange]Well, I have a lot of friends here at Durmstrang and back in France where my parents live. I do have a best friend though, Lisbet…we’ve been friends for as long as I can remember. Um…my favorite subject has got to be Transfiguration although apparently I am very good at the Dark Arts. I don’t really try very hard in that class though…those dark spells get to me sometimes. [/orange] He took a breath before talking about his relationships. [orange]As for relationships…I’m actually engaged be married in a couple of months. [/orange] Aydin said nervously, looking down at his fingers as he played with them nervously. He wasn’t sure if the Minster would think negatively about him being gay…he didn’t seem like the type who would, but he couldn’t know for sure. [orange] My fiancé is Neko Savage…he’s prefect for Sjenert Katt and also Beater and Quidditch Captain like myself. [/orange] He looked up at the Minster as he said this, as if trying to gauge his reaction.

Victor nodded, pleased that Aydin was taking his advice already. Now you're talking. If you do your goals in the right order then everything will work out. You'll have the physique for the Auror, then you'll have the popularity and charisma that you will need to try and get into office for Minister of Magic. He liked this boy. This boy had ambition which was one of the main things that one needed to come out ahead in the game of life. Victor grinned at Aydin's enthusiasm, Anything can happen once you put your mind into it. So if you ever have questions about which path to take you are more than welcome to contact me. Even if its at three in the morning albiet I might be a little grouchy from being woken up but still I am here to help you achieve those goals you have set forward. I'll even fly with you and practice when you need it. He paused and took a sandwich off a tray and bit into it. He chewed thoughtfully then swallowed. I can even call in a favor from a scout for the Norwegian Ridgebacks, the Chudley Cannons if your interested, the Muddled Mullforts out in Ireland, or even the Bulgarian Dragons. I am sure they would love to come out and watch you fly, invite your friends too if you please. All those scouts are always looking for new recruits. I can also get you a private trainer if you wish so. He took a sip of pumpkin juice and wiped his mouth with a napkin before smiling at Aydin. Victor listened to him talk about his friends and smiled when he mentioned that he had a really close friend. It's always nice to have a confidant. Lisbet you say? Does she play quidditch too? I might be able to get her a trainer too. I find that one works better when one has someone close to them working with them to achieve goals. He wrote Lisbet's first name down under the notes he wrote about quidditch. He looked back up at Aydin and motioned for him to continue. Transfiguration is good, so is the Dark Arts. Care to talk about how it makes you feel uncomfortable? Its good for an Auror to know about the Dark Arts. How are you at Defense? He jotted down a few notes and looked at Aydin. Well Congratulations are in order! He held out his hand to shake Aydin's. When Aydin mentioned that he was engaged to another boy Victor smiled, Sexuality means nothing when it comes to love. I wish you and Neko the best of luck. Victor was probably the most tolerant man in all of Norway, he supported it all, well except blood supremacy...He's a quidditch player too huh? Is he interested in a career? I mean you can never have enough team members. He jotted down Neko's name next to Lisbets. He wanted Aydin to succeed and he knew that there was a greater chance of succession if he was happy and comfortable with people he knew.

[orange]I’ll keep that in mind. [/orange] Aydin said with a smile when the Minster agreed with what he had said. It surprised him that the Minister would actually agree with him but it did seem like a good idea to do it in the order he stated, and the Minister explained the reasons why. He was sure he wasn’t in quite the physique that was needed for an Auror just yet so playing more Quidditch professionally for a few years before applying for that would indeed get him in the shape he needed for the job. And as the minster said, if he played Quidditch professionally first, more people would know his name and what he was all about so that when he did eventually run for the Minister of Magic position, he wouldn’t be just some nobody. [orange] I don’t think I’ll ever have the need to wake you up at 3 in the morning, since I like my sleep as well, but it does mean a lot that you’ll be there to help me if I ever need you. I may take you up on that fly though. I’ll never turn down a good flying session…whenever you can fit that in to your schedule, since I’m sure it’s really busy. [/orange] He took a sandwich when the Minister did and ate about half of it in one bite. He wasn’t trying to be impolite or anything, he just took rather large bites and he hadn’t actually noticed how hungry he was until now…he had been too nervous to think about eating before this. Aydin was glad that he had swallowed his sandwich when he did because if he hadn’t he might have choked on it. [orange]No way. You’d seriously do that for me? That is so awesome of you sir…it can’t even…fully express into words how amazing that would be. [/orange] He said, accidentally breaking out of being as formal as he was. It was just that he was so excited to be scouted by a professional team so early…he was only 16 at the moment…not even quite of age yet and he was already being mentored by the Minister of Magic and going to be recommended to some professional scouts. His life was more than perfect at the moment and he knew he didn’t deserve any of it. When the conversation turned to Lisbet, he couldn’t help but smile even wider, if that was even possible at the moment. [orange]Yes, she plays Quidditch as well. She’s the keeper for Sjenert Katt house and I’m sure she would be more than thrilled to have a trainer as well. She’s really good but of course anyone can get better. [/orange] The conversation turned to the subjects he was good at but he really wasn’t sure how he was going to answer one of the Minster’s questions. [orange]Well, it’s that I really don’t like causing physical harm to people when they don’t necessarily deserve it you know? If it were to come to a bad wizard who needed to be captured, sure if I needed to for some reason curse them it would be no problem, but on these muggle prisoners, it’s not like they can defend themselves with magic so they are just sort of sitting ducks in a way. [/orange]He said with a shrug before going on to the next question. [orange]My defense grades are pretty good. I don’t really have any problems with that subject. [/orange] Aydin was so relieved when the Minister didn’t seem to mind that he was gay, in fact, he didn’t mind at all and actually congratulated him on his engagement. Reaching across the table to take his hand, he shook it firmly, giving him a beaming smile. [orange]Thank you sir. It really means a lot that you are so understanding. Some people aren’t as tolerant as you. [/orange] He said with a slight sigh. [orange]I honestly am not sure if Neko would be interested in a career in Quidditch but I can ask him later…I’m sure he’s considered it though…he is really good. [/orange] He said blushing a bit. He was sort of mad at himself that he didn’t really know what Neko wanted to do after he graduated…it seemed like something he should know by now.
