Again, Kayla couldn't sleep, actually she hadn't slept in a few days, atleast not properly. Kayla had alot of problems. She had body dismorphic disorder, night terrors and now it appeared she was suffering from insomnia. Maybe that was why she couldn't sleep, because of the night terrors, she was to afraid to sleep because her past was to real in her dreams. Yes she was now safe, but when her subconscious took over, it scared the hell out of her. Even though her brother was dead, he could still harm her in her sleep. She needed therapy, but she didn't know who to turn to and she also didn't want to appear weak. So she kept it to herself, as she usually does. Kayla roamed the corridors, making sure to stay out of sight. She didn't want to be caught because she didn't want to return to her dorm room. It was too boring. Plus she didn't see the point in trying to sleep. Over the last two or three days the most she had slept was four hours.
Kayla tried to ignore that, she was glad that she wasn't sleeping, atleast her dreams couldn't hurt her, for now anyway. Kayla continued to wonder the corridor, going now where in particular. That was until she suddenly felt very dizzy. She felt as though she was going to collapse. Kayla pressed her back against the wall and took a deep breath. Her legs suddenly felt weak and she slid down the wall so she was sitting on the ground with her knees bent up to her chest, taking a deep breath. But it was too late. Her head rolled over the side and she passed out. As soon as she slipped into a micro nap her nightmare began. The flash of her brothers eyes was the first thing she saw. Then it was dark. Everything lit up again and the blows started. She tried to run, but for some reason she couldn't move. The look on her brothers face was horrible. It was so dark and sinister it was as if he truly enjoyed making her suffer.
Kayla jerked awake, breathing heavily and shaking all over. She sat up right, glancing around. She was back at Hogwarts. "Shit." She said and rested her head back against the wall. She tried to steady her breathing and calm her nerves as her hands were shaking violently with fear. When was this going to end. She just wanted to be normal and not have to endure this torture every time she closed her eyes.[/blockquote]

Shane woke up with a start, sitting straight up in his bed. He let out a long sigh and flung his legs over the side of his bed. The nightmares were the same, yet they'd changed throughout the years. At first, he dreamed of being hit and kicked, sometimes to the point of concussion or blacking out. But lately, the dreams had shifted. They were now more about becoming his father. There was nothing that Shane had in common with the man, aside from his anger and the way he handled that anger. Shane was a fighter and always had been and always would be. But he'd never hit a kid smaller than him for no reason. He would never beat one of his friends to a pulp...well, there was that one time at Hogwarts, which was why he'd gotten expelled. Shane wasn't a very good Gryffindor anyway.
Well, Shane dismissed the dream, not wanting to think about the contents, and pulled on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. Scatching the back of his head, he slipped out of his room and out of the Enkelt Kanin dorms. Shane hated the way the Muggleborns were treated. He'd come from Hogwarts, the school that Muggleborns were nearly glorified just because of their fight in the war. Now his dorms were barely on the grounds, outside, and about a ten minute walk to the castle. But Shane could nearly care less as he shoved his hands in his pockets and made his way to the main entrance.
THe halls were vacant and the candles were the only things lit in the hallways. As he turned a corner, he noticed a girl, a darkhaired girl, slide down the wall to the ground. SHane wasn't one to get involved in something that wasn't his to get involved in. This was one of those times. He thought about turning around and heading back to bed, lest he get caught by some teachers. A muggleborn out of bed; lovely. But sighing, he made his way to the girl anyway, sitting against the wall across from her. She seemed to passout, and Shane's eyes went wide, although his mouth stayed shut. No need to say anything, she wouldn't hear you anyway. Evetually the girl came to and muttered a dirty word. Shane grinned. She hadn't noticed him yet and that amused him. "Bad dream, there, or some kind of voodoo overtaking you?" he asked, throwing his arms toward her and wiggling her fingers like he was casting some spell on her. "Looked epic and intense," he grinned, sighed adn crossing his legs criss cross on the cold concrete floor.

For a moment Kayla wasn't aware anyone was watching her. That was until they spoke. It made her jump. She glanced round at the boy who appeared to look as though he was around the same age as her. She took a deep breath and swallowed. Trying to get rid of the tight sick feeling in the pit of her stomach. Yes it was a bad dream a fucking terrifying one, but no way was it epic. Even the dreams that only lasted a minute felt as though they had gone on for hours. "Yeah bad dream." Said Kayla as if agreeing with him. But she was just still a little dazed by what had happened. Kayla needed to stand up, or keep moving to avoid falling asleep again. She couldn't suffer another attack from her brother again. Kayla pushed herself up off of the ground, stumbled a little as she was feeling dizzy and turned and faced the boy. "How long you been there?" She asked curiously. She wanted to know how much he had seen and if she had said anything. Kayla walked over to him and looked at him. She wasn't sure if she had seen him before but he did look a little familiar. Maybe they had classes together, or maybe they had just passed when going to and from lessons. "Have we met before?" Asked Kayla, frowning a little as if really trying to think.[/blockquote]

Jack had been at Durmstrang for a while, since he was 11. He knew the castle like the back of his hand, and he also knew the students better than they knew themselves. So now, in the dark of night, he had no problem knowing exactly where he was going. He clenched his teeth as he headed down the stairs, down the halls, nothing but candles lighting his way. Jack didn't really need them, he knew the way so well. His breath was the only thing he heard, aside from his footsteps in the quiet halls, echoing slightly. He wore jeans and a black sweatshirt as he turned a corner, stopping dead in his tracks.
His brother sat against the wall. He'd done a lot to get Shane to this school, and he hadn't yet seen him. He'd heard that he'd arrived not too long ago, but he hadn't actually laid eyes on him. Jack hadn't seen Shane in a couple of years, well, he hadn't seen him while Shane was awake. He'd only seen him while he checked up on him in his sleep, making sure the boy was still alive and unscathed. Now, Shane sat across from a girl, a girl that Jack had seen around and hadn't really paid much attention to. Shane turned and saw Jack, their eyes meeting and locking for a moment.
Jack took in a breath, making sure his face was emotionless, and slowly walked toward the couple on the cold stone floor. Eventually he made it to them, and looked down, not sitting and putting himself at their level. "Strange place for a midnight rendevouz, don't you think?" he asked quietly, his voice deep and husky, not even echoing in the halls. Shane looked away, down the other direction of the hall. Jack looked at Shane, a slight grin on his lips as he looked away, knowing about a dozen different snotty remarks were going through his head. He then looked to the girl, Kayla, he knew from classes. He didn't say anything, he simply looked from Shane to Kayla, then back to Shane, wondering suddenly why Shane was out of bed...he was pushing rules and limits already. Shane saw Jack from down the hall and locked eyes with him. He hated Jack with such a passion it was unbelievable. He hadn't seen Jack in years, and he liked it that way. Jack was everything Shane wasn't. He was heartless and didn't care at all for Shane and what their father did to him on a daily basis. Shane couldn't count how many times his father had hit him, leaving bruises and cuts all over him. He'd kicked him a few times too. And where was Jack? Nowhere. Living it up in the city with his mom. Never once did Jack ask Shane to live with him and never did he apologize or take him under his wing. Jack was the epitome of everything Shane hated, and seeing him at the school that he hated just as much made him sick. As Jack made his way down the hall toward them, he looked down the other way, breaking eye contact. He knew that Jack would love the idea that Shane was in submission to him, but it was Shane's game, to make him think he had the upper hand. To Shane, Jack was dead. "No one invited you. No one asked you." He continued to look down the hall, glancing at Kayla across from him. "This is Jack." he said to Kayla, turning his gaze to his lap in front of him, feeling Jack looming above him in the darkness. Parts of Shane wanted to be a lot like Jack, and parts of him thought he was scary as hell. But it was moments like these that he wished he possessed whatever it was that made people look at him with awe and admiration. No one looked at Shane like that. No one ever would.[/blockquote]

Kayla hadn't noticed someone else approach them until Shane locked away and seemed to glare at something or someone. Kayla followed his eye line and saw boy standing in the shadow. He made his way over to them. At first the boy looked at Shane and she could see the slightest hint of a smirk. He then turned and looked at her, he had a piercing stare. Kayla kept her eyes locked with his and then turned her attention back to Shane when he looked back at Shane and made a slightly sarcastic remark. Kayla just rolled her eyes and rested her head back against the wall, ignoring the guy for now. She was only brought back to reality when Shane introduced him as Jack. "I'm Kayla." Looking back at Jack. She had to admit to herself that he was very good looking, but she wasn't even going to go there. The trouble she had had in the past was enough to put her off guys for a lifetime.[/blockquote] ((Sorry it short. I didn't know what else to write. lol.))

Shane stood up. It was as it always was. Jack shows up and steals the show. Well, if he wanted to have Durmstrang to himself, he could have it. He was treated less than a house elf. Besides, Jack had been going to Durmstrang for a while; he had precedence. Shane jsut wanted to get out, away from Jack and away from Kayla, who no doubt would be infatuated by his brother. Well, no one needed to know yet that Shane was Jack's brother. And he was pretty sure that Jack would like it much better if people didn't know that the Muggleborn troublemaker was his younger brother. "You two enjoy the darkness of this hallway. I for one, think it's a little creepy. Don't get attacked by any deadly creatures," he joked, shoving his hands in his pockets and looking at the ground as he walked away. The moon was full and high, giving him a light on the way back to the Enkelt Kanin common room. The grass was wet and it was cold as hell as he shivered. There was a slight breeze that madehis hair blow around his face. As he opened the door to the common room, he was thankful for the faint glow of the fire and the warmth it brought. Rubbing his eyes, Shane made his way to his room . The other boys were still sleeping and he started to get ready for bed. Once in bed, he stared out the window, wondering what would happen now that Jack had seen him and knew for a fact that he was at the school. Jack had never hurt Shane, but emotionally Jack was elite, dark, and everything Shane wished he was. As he watched the moon rise higher in the sky, SHane finally fell asleep.[/blockquote]

Jack lifted his chin as Shane said his goodbyes. He let his eyes squint in curiosity slightly as he put his hands in his pockets. As he watched Shane walk down the hall, a piece of him was able to calm down, able to feel at ease. Knowing that Shane was safe at Durmstrang, away from their father and his crack/whore of a mother, made Jack able to rest easier at night. Sighing, he scratched the back of his neck, looking down at the girl on the floor. Kayla. She'd said her name was Kayla. "Kayla. Well, the floor isn't that accomodating to anybody's ass, so why don't you get up and I'll walk you back to your common room." He said, looking at her expectantly. His voice was low and husky, authoritative. He wasn't bossing her around, he was trying to imply that none of them were supposed ot be out of bed, and they were all about to get in trouble if they didn't start heading back to common rooms; even if Jack intended on leaving the premesis completely once Kayla was back where she was supposed to be. Jack started walking, expecting the girl to follow, but just in case he called over his shoulder quietly. "You better get up, before someone sees you. They won't take it lightly that you're out of bed and being as insubordinate as to just sit there. You're not even doing anything worth explaining. So again, I suggest you get up and follow me." he said, clenching his teeth and slowing his gait so she could catch up. [/blockquote]

Kayla didn't want Shane to go, but he did. She just watched him go and turned her attention to Jack. He was very good looking, but Kayla noticed his eyes more. They were just so blue. When he started talking to her she snapped out of her train of thought and listened to what he was saying. He wanted to walk her back to her common room. She didn't mind that, but what was she supposed to do once there? Sleep? No she wasn't going to do that and the thought made her heart thump against her rib cage as she panicked slightly. She couldn't dream, she hated it when she did. She always woke up screaming which just pissed off her housemates. Jack turned and began walking down the corridor. Kayla watched him walk. Should she go with him and then sneak back out later? Or just sit here and ignore him. Maybe he would leave her alone. But then she didn't want to be left alone. Kayla wanted some company even if they didn't talk to her.
Kayla was actually about to get up when he began talking again, but this time he sounded kind of rude, as if ordering her to do something. She felt like it was more of a threat though. Kayla actually now feared men, especially if they threatening her. Kayla frowned at him and then stood. Stumbling a little as her head spun and then stopped. "No need to be rude. I'm coming." She said catching up with him, head down her voice rather quiet. She felt kind of intimidated by Jack for some reason and she really didn't know why. Maybe it was because he had just come across as threatening to her, but there was something else that she couldn't put her finger on. Kayla glanced up at Jack, biting her bottom lip slightly. "How do you know Shane?" She asked casually.[/blockquote]

Jack walked down the hall, no other sound aside from a quiet wind outside or their feet in the hall. But when Kayla caught up to him, he couldn't help but grin a little. He knew she'd catch up; no doubt on that point. He enjoyed being intimidating; he could tell she was intimidated by the way she held her head down and followed when he called. There was no chase in this game at all. THen she mentioned Shane. A ball formed in his stomach and he clenched his teeth. As he continued to walk, it took a while for him to formulate his answer and say it out loud.
Shane was a touchy subject for Jack, and there was no possible way that this girl could have known that. So he had to suck up his feelings of guilt and jealousy and give her a somewhat honest answer that hinted at nothing else but the obvious. He waited until they'd gotten to the end of the hall and turned the corner before answering. It was a slow answer, in his slow and methodical voice. "Shane is my younger brother." He said it in a monotone voice that was so low it didn't even echo in the empty hall. He turned his head toward Kayla and asked his own question. "How do you know Shane, and why are you out after lights out?" he counted, a slight attitude in his voice and a raise of an eyebrow as he looked at her. If he could get her to talk about herself, then they wouldn't be talking about him and certainly not about Shane. [/blockquote]

They walked in silence for a little while. It was kind of an awkward silence that Kayla was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with. She began to twiddle with a strand of hair as she thought of something to say. Atleast she tried to. She still felt intimidated by Jack, which was annoying her because he hadn't really done anything or said anything to her that would scare her. It was just the way he held himself, his attitude. Also not to mention he was alot taller than her. It seemed to take him a while to answer her question. She didn't know why. Maybe there was something going on that he didn't want her to know.

After a long dragged out awkward silence, Jack finally told her that Shane is his younger brother. It surprised her as she couldn't see the resemblance between them. She got the feeling that both brothers would probably be happy about that. They didn't seem really close. When Jack asked how she knew Shane she looked up at him. "I just met him." She said with a slight shrug. She had seen Shane in a few of her classes but never actually talked to him. He seemed as though he had his fair share of problems but an all round decent guy. Jack on the other hand was totally different to Shane. Yes Jack was smoking hot but he was very mysterious. "I couldn't sleep." Said Kayla answering his question as to why she was up, which wasn't exactly a lie. Just not the complete truth. "You been at Durmstrang long?" Asked Kayla trying to make conversation.[/blockquote]

Jack didn't enjoy talking. He was in a hurry and all he really had on his mind was safety; his, and accidentally, hers. She was unaware of the danger she was in by not only walking with him, but by simply being out in the corridors at this moment, this night. Of course, she had no idea what she was doing, it wasn't intentional, but for Jack, it was still irresponsible. He looked behind him and rubbed the back of his head as they walked on. "Yes. I've been her for many years. Seven, if you must know. Now...where is your common room? I'm in a hurry. I'm meeting someone, and if he happens to appear while I'm with you, he will no doubt take it that you are in the scheme, which you aren't. So please, hurry and let me get you where you need to be...where you should have been all along." he said heatedly, but quietly. He had no intention of frightening her, but he had put herself in a danger that he wouldn't be able to undo if she was caught by his employer. Jack stopped at yet another corner and looked at Kayla full on in the eyes. "Shane and I are nothing alike. We're two very different people, with very different histories. Two different acts by one man created us both. Our linkage ends there. You have no idea what you're getting yourself into by being out here right now. Once you're in your common room, you haven't seen me. You know my name, but that's it. You were talking to Shane in the hall, I never showed up. Do I make myself clear?" he said in a hushed and rushed tone. He didn't wait for her to answer to start heading down the hall once more. He didn't wait, but he was still expecting her answer. He didn't care what he did himself, but he didn't like bringing innocent people into his work. [/blockquote]

Jack began acting a little weird. It wasn't intimidating anymore, more like he needed to be somewhere or he was supposed to do something and she was in the way. Kayla glanced behind them when he did and frowned. No longer scared of him but more confused. He still answered her question though which she was greatful for, but he soon started rambling on, about a scheme or something and he got pretty heated. Kayla briefly stopped walking and looked up at him, frowning. Just what was his problem. He didn't have to walk her back to her common room. Why would he care what happened to her anyway, it's not like she was anything important to him. Hell he didn't even know her. "Well don't let me get in your way Jack." Said Kayla and then began walking in the direction of her common room. When they got to a corner, it was Jack's turn to stop. He turned and looked down at her, directly into her eyes. Kayla's frown softened as he looked down at her. He was been very serious, the way he was talking to her. He told her that him and Shane are nothing alike and such and it seemed as though he hated his brother. Why she would never know and it wasn't something she wanted to get in the middle of. Plus she would probably never see either Shane or Jack again anyway. "Jack, I have no idea what your talking about. I just came out for a walk because I couldn't sleep, ran into you and Shane and now your telling me I've got myself involved in something I don't know." Said Kayla exasperated. She was completely lost and didn't have a clue what he was talking about. As soon as he stopped talking she began walking aswell, catching up with him rather quickly.[/blockquote]

Jack sighed and ran his hand through his hair. Looking at the ground, he thought through his words, the words he was going to say to Kayla. He felt bad, but he also knew that she was in danger being out like this where danger awaits them both. It was clear to him that she had no idea what was going on, and she shouldn't, she wasn't involved. "I'm sorry. It's just...innocent people...shouldn't be involved in the affairs of...not so innocent people. And like I said...you being out right now puts you in the middle of it. Now...I could leave you to find your common room on your own, and I'm sure you'll be fine. Or, I can walk you there. It's up to you, but either way, please be hasty, so you do'nt get caught." He sighed again and tried a smile, something he efinitely wasn't used to. Shoving his hands into his pockets, he shrugged his shoulders, waiting for her simple reply to a ridiculous night this had become unintentionally. He was being irresponsible by caring whether Kayla and Shane were where they should be, but he couldn't very well let this girl and his brother get caught in the possible crossfire.[/blockquote]

Kayla listened carefully to Jack's words. There was definitely something going on in the school and Jack was apart of it. It was something bad, but now she wanted to know what it was. Kayla tilted her head a little and took a step closer to Jack so she could speak quietly to him. "Jack it kinda sounds like your in trouble, not just me." She said and for some reason lightly placed her hand on his arm. Kayla knew he wasn't going to tell her what was going on, so she may aswell let him escort her back to her common room, it he wanted to of course. "Well you can walk with me if you want." She said, removing her hand from his arm and taking a few steps back. For some reason she wanted to spend more time with Jack. Yes he was good looking, extremely, but she wanted to get to know him more. Maybe because she got the sense that he was just as fucked up as she was.[/blockquote] ((OOC: Sorry my posts have been so shitty. I hope they pick up soon. XD ))

Jack looked at Kayla in the dark. He sighed and looked down the hall, then down the other way. Only candles were visible. As Kayla touched his arm, he looked at her hand, wondering what had enticed her to do that. Typically people don't look at him, let alone touch him. And here was this girl that had no idea what he was doing and what his life was like, and she was touching him. Brave girl. He nodded. "Yeah. Walking you to your common room is probably the safest route." he muttered, starting down the hall with her at his side. "I'm not in trouble. I just don't want any innocent people or random bystanders to get caught up in something they didnt purposefully put themselves into. I enjoy my work, end of story. But it isn't for everyone." he said, turning a corner and sighing. "Just don't tell anyone you've seen me, Kayla, out and about right now. I don't need to get into trouble with something as simple as the headmaster. Okay?" he said, slightly harshly, but more like he was making a point than anything else. [/blockquote]
