[+]General History: [/color][/size][/b][/ul] Shaylyn Sapphire Menki was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Izaiah and Mai Menki. Her mother’s pregnancy was riddled with complications and by the time she was just about due, her mother was practically living in the hospital. Due to unforeseen circumstances, her parents had to make a choice, whether to save Mai or their unborn daughter to which Mai replied “I’ve lived my life. Let her live hers.” Shortly thereafter, Shaylyn was born and Mai had perished. Shay lived a relatively happy life in Brazil, just her father, brother and herself. When her brother Ezra turned 11, he got accepted into the Brazilian School of Wizardry and their father decided it was time to start tutoring Shay in the ways of magic (she was 6 at this time). Early on it became evident that she was more skilled in healing magic than she should be at such a young age. Her father taught her simple spells like Episkey and Tergeo and she mastered those easily. Healing spells came more naturally to her than any other type of spells and charms and her father could not be more proud of her.
When she was 11, she got her acceptance to the Brazilian School of Wizardry where she did relatively well in most of her classes. She did however find out that she has a terrible memory, making classes like History where you have to remember various dates and names very difficult for her. She did excel at Charms and Potions and was taking all the right classes to become a Healer when she finished school. When she began her 5th year, she was given the option to being taking classes to become an Animagus and she jumped at the opportunity. Shay was one of the youngest in her class but also one of the most talented. It only took her 4 lessons to successfully turn into her form, which became an adorable spider monkey, although strangely, with a tail that had rings like a raccoon. She did have a bit of trouble coming out of her form that first time but after help from her professor, she never had that problem again.
During the summer after her fifth year, her father one day decided that they were moving to Russia. He gave them no reason, just that they had to go, now. They packed up their things and moved in the night to their new place. (Her brother was still saying with them for no apparent reason.) She never questioned her father’s reason for them moving, but in the back of her mind she assumed they were running from some type of law enforcement. Just weeks after their move however, her father was arrested and sent to Wizarding Prison for conspiracy to take over the Brazilian Ministry of Magic. She and her brother were shocked at this news as neither of them noticed anything suspicious going on in their father’s life. This new turn of events was something they were going to have to deal with and figure out together, with Ezra becoming head of the household and Shaylyn trying to continue on with her life in a normal fashion.
Her brother decided that she needed to be enrolled in some type of school and after a bit of asking around, they found out that the nearest Wizarding School was Durmstrang Academy, so that’s where she was going to go. Shaylyn didn’t particularly want to go back to school because of that recent traumatic experience but her brother convinced her that no one was going to hire a 16 year old drop out, no matter how good of a healer they were, so off she went to being her sixth year at Durmstrang.
