Shaylyn wandered around the grounds of Durmstrang Castle. She had only been there a couple of days and she felt like she was never going to get used to it. It was so cold, even though it wasn’t even winter yet. She couldn’t remember if she had ever worn a jacket in September in her entire life so this was definitely a first. Perhaps being on the other side of the equator wasn’t the best place for her, having grown up basically on it, where it was always warm. She would have to get used to it she supposed, as this school was going to be her new home for the next couple of years. It seemed nice so far, although this was the first time she had been outside of the massive castle since she had arrived. She hadn’t really met anyone yet, perhaps a couple of house mates, but they didn’t seem too keen on meeting the new girl at the time so Shaylyn didn’t push; she would meet friends on her own time. Walking along the lawns, she began kicking a small rock around with her like it was a ball. It wasn’t the most fun thing in the world to do, but at least it was something to do. She wanted to go home, back to her brother and back to Brazil, but at the present time, she couldn’t. She was going to have to stick it out and wait until she came of age and finished school. With one frustrated kick, she kicked the rock away from her and began making her way back towards the castle; at least it was warmer in there. Before she finished her first step, she heard someone say “Ow”. [pink]Oh, great….I’m only here two days and I’ve already hit someone with a rock…[/pink]She thought as she turned around to apologize. Sorry this took so long! Cayden had been sitting on a large rock underneath a Norwegian Maple tree, most of its large leaves had turned colors from the change of seasons...Autumn was upon them. The trunk of the tree was rounder than any man could hug and the height simply frightening. This was his favorite place besides the woods to spend time away from the structure of the Castle. Even though the air of the world around him was tinted with a slight coldness coming he barely noticed it. It felt amazing on his bare chest...The suns beams warmed his blood and he didn't mind the cold air coming in...He knew it well..Autumn always felt good to him.. It wasn't to hot nor was it freezing like the winters. He closed his eyes letting the scent of the decaying and changing leaves fill his nostrils. He lit a cigarette as he heard footsteps pass him and across the lawn. He didn't pay the sound of feet or the person it was attached to much attention. He laid across the rock feeling the cold surface embrace his warm skin in a nice mixture. Today his hair has been changed to match the autumn theme around him, the dark black hair was drenched in red, yellow, white, brown, and light brown highlights. His bangs hung over one of his electric blue eyes. He only wore a pair of dark blue jeans today...having passed on even shoes. The earth felt too good to him. He let himself relax and his eyes close as he continued smoking his cigarette. He may have noticed the footsteps approaching his direction again on their way back to the castle but he didn't pay it much attention...not until a rock stuck him in the chest. 'Owe' His eyes shot open and he jumped to his feet with his rigid blood wood wand pointing in the direction of the attacker.

Before she even took one step towards whom she was apologizing to she saw said person jump up, wand at the ready. She stopped in the tracks she had yet to take and was still about 3 feet away. Holding up her hands, she tried to smiled sweetly, but ended up looking down at the ground shyly. [pink]Whoa buddy. Don’t kill me…it was a completely accident. [/pink] Finally looking up, she noticed this individual was clearly a guy…a shirtless guy. Although he was…rather good looking, she couldn’t help but wonder if he wasn’t cold. Maybe he was from here so he was probably used to it. Moving her eyes up a bit more, she first noticed that his hair matched the trees. It was then that she noticed his eyes. So very blue, they were like magnets for her eyes and she couldn’t help but try not to look at them.
Taking her eyes off of his for a second, she finally got the smiling sweetly thing down like she was trying to a few seconds prior, although accompanied by a bit of blushing. [pink]So um…I’m really sorry for…you know…kicking a rock at you…and um…I hope this doesn’t keep us from ever being friends…because that would kinda suck. [/pink] She was noticeably flustered, partially from the fact that she had just kicked a rock at someone and they were, in turn, holding her at wandpoint, and partially at the fact that there was a very attractive shirtless guy standing in front of her. She wasn’t sure which was more of the cause.

He let his eyes look over the attacker but his wand soon fell to his side as he looked over her. He raised an eyebrow as he listened to her apologies. He couldn't quite place the accent which made him note the slight shivering she was doing. She was surely not use to the cold. He felt no threat from her...nor did he most females. So he tucked away his wand before responding with a cunning grin, So it was an accident that you hit me with a rock is it? Or were you dying for my attention? He fluttered his eyelashes at her before continuing, Although, as to whether you and I will be friends is to be told. Who are you anyways? You're not from here..nor have we ever met?
He looked her over..she was tan with dark hair...not to common for Norway. It was interesting to him...as was the way she carried herself, in that innocent girly way that intriguing to him. He couldn't say he liked her because he had yet to know anything about her...but she was very pretty. He let the thoughts of her cuteness subside as he waited for her to respond.

The guy seemed to be studying her for a couple of seconds, and she assumed that he saw that she was clearly not a threat to him. Sure, she knew magic just like she should and she could defend herself if she actually needed to, but Shaylyn wouldn’t hurt a fly and most people could just tell that about her. She was too sweet to do any harm to anyone on purpose. She put her hands in her pockets as he spoke again, trying to keep them warm. It was still so cold, she couldn’t figure out how he was possibly outside in just pants…it seemed crazy to her.
[pink]Of course it was an accident that I hit you with a rock. How is kicking a rock at someone a good way to get their attention? If I really was “dying for” your attention as you say, I would have come up and talked to you, but honestly, I didn’t even see you laying there. [/pink] She knew he was probably joking about what he said, but she felt the need to let him know exactly what happened. [pink] Oh, sorry. I’m Shaylyn Menki, I just transferred here from Brazil which is why we have never met. And who might you be? [/pink] She smiled, stepping closer and holding her hand out for him to shake it.

Cayden chuckled as she felt the need to clarify her reasoning for hitting him with the rock. He couldn't help but raise and eyebrow at her as he listened to her strange accent. His attention furthered on her when she introduced herself as Shaylyn Menki from Brazil. He had personally never been to Brazil...or well a lot of places. He had always stayed within the boundaries of the European countries...so to be face to face with someone so completely and totally out of the way...across the largest ocean he had ever seen was a bit surprising...It was hard to imagine the world across the ocean. He smiled at her and took her hand....he wasn't sure of the Brazilian customs of introducing of the hand...but he was sure of his....He lightly touched her hand with warm fingers against her cold and then pressed the top of her hand against his warm lips. Letting go lightly he smiled, Well that would make since why we have never met and I have never heard your accent before... I am the Head Boy of Durmstrang. My name is Cayden Stark. I guess if it was an accident that you hit me...perhaps it was by fate of our crossing? I guess will see if it's on good terms we were so fated to come across one another.

The boy introduced himself as Cayden Stark, apparently Head Boy of this institution. As she offered her hand to him, he seemed to be the slightest bit confused as to why she was greeting him this way. Shaylyn had always thought shaking hands was a sort of universal greeting gesture as she had used it in several countries that she had visited. Although, since this was the first time that she had been to the northern, colder part of Europe, she wasn’t fully aware that different people had different ways to greet. She was a bit taken aback when he touched her cold hands with his warm fingers and kissed her forehead. She blushed a bit, but it probably want noticeable underneath the already red tint of her freezing face. [pink]Well, Cayden, I would never wish that our meeting would be on bad terms. I don’t like to have any enemies if I can help it, and I’m pretty sure I’ve never actually had one that I can think of. [/pink] She hoped she didn’t sound like a weird “goody two shoes” type person to him as he didn’t look like the type of person that would even hang out with those types of people, but then again, how would she know for sure. She didn’t know anything about this boy really aside from his name. He could be the nicest person ever and she wouldn’t know until she got to know him better.

Cayden watched as her cheeks grew slightly redder from the introduction on her already pinkish face...no doubt from the cold she wasn't use to. He looked into her eyes which looked slightly surprised by him. He smiled at her with his perfect white smile and listened to her speak. She was adorable in a way that kept him smiling. You don't like to have enemies? Must be a very difficult life...having to step over lines so you don't make an enemy...You must be very cautious and sweet then..to not have enemies. I seem to attract them like a magnet to metal. I really don't mind it though...it keeps my life entertaining.
He touched her chin..., I would like it if we didn't start on bad terms...so your wandering these grounds for the fun of freezing yourself? You obviously are shivering...not quite yet use to the climate are you? Perhaps...we go inside and get to know each other a little better?

Shaylyn smiled back at him. His smile was so adorable that she couldn’t help but smile. [pink]It’s not that I don’t “like” to have enemies; it’s that, I guess I just don’t ever make them. I’ve been told I’m too nice to have anyone hate me. You don’t seem like the type to have many enemies either though, but then again, I don’t know that much about you at all. You could be a horrible person and I wouldn’t know; but I don’t think you are. [/pink] Her cheeks blushed again, this time a bit more noticeably. She was pretty sure he noticed her blush the first time, but if he hadn’t, he surely would notice now.
She rubbed her arms vigorously, trying to produce some warmth to keep herself from freezing. It was so cold that her teeth were practically chattering constantly. She was glad when he suggested they go inside and talk more. [pink]I was wandering to take a look at the grounds. I’ve stayed in my room since I got here, but you’re right, I’m really not used to the cold. But I’d love to go inside. Where do you suggest we go? [/pink] She asked. She wasn’t sure where there was to hang out in the school, but she was sure wherever Cayden picked would be just fine.

Cayden gave a sly smile as she told him she didn't think he was a horrible person...She really didn't know him did she? He liked this... She'd never have to know anything about him spending the early hours of the morning torturing a younger student in the dungeons....she didn't have to know that he had originally came outside on the urge to find trouble...He smirked at this and the rosiness of her cheeks... Well I guess you'll have to see whether I am good for yourself won't you? There is really no fun in me laying myself on the table for you...I'd rather keep the mystery of it for you.
He watched her shiver and bit his lip...he usually would of draped his arm around her...but decided against it to keep his 'sweet and friendly' tone about him..he didn't want to seem pushy or over bearing...not now atleast. Well how about your common room for now until we know each other a bit more? As Head Boy I have access to everything in the castle so it wouldn't shock anyone if i went there with you. Especially since the student's were use to him doing inspections for muggle artifacts like cellphones and computers...he left this out and continued, Well come on darling to the West Tower we go!
He put a warm hand against her back guiding her back to the castle.

There was something about his smile that suggested that Cayden was not the nice guy that Shaylyn assumed he was but it wasn’t in her nature to ask about it. She would just have to find out for herself his true personality, but she hoped it was similar to what she imagined it would be. Of course, he did have her at wand point the first minute they met, but after that moment, he’d been nothing but nice to her. Maybe she was just thinking too far into this; maybe he was just smiling to smile, like she was. [pink] Well, I do like mysteries, so I guess I’ll have fun figuring you out right? [/pink] She smiled sweetly. She didn’t mean to sound like she was flirting with him, but a lot of times what she said just came out that way. He could take it how he wanted to.
[pink]My common room sounds nice; It’s usually nice and warm in there and as you can probably tell, I’m freezing. [/pink] She rubbed her hands against her arms again before she started walking towards the castle, his hand on her back, guiding her, and also making one hand shaped spot warmer than the rest of her body. [pink]So I had no idea a Head Boy had perks like going into other houses common rooms. You must have done something pretty awesome to get a position like that?[/pink]

Cayden listened as she agreed that her common room would be a nice spot to talk...all the common room's were built to exceed the standards of nice...the warm fireplaces were excellent to hang around. Nice comfy chairs to sink into of the silver and gold fabric that adorned the entire Sjenert Common Room would most likely be a lot more comfortable then the slab of rock he had been previously laying across... He continued walking with her as he listened to her question. He opened the grand doors and made sure she walked through first before responding, You may call it perks as some others would, but I know it as maintaining order among the students...my ability to go as I please keeps the students behaving because they know I could come by at any minute...It's a nice set up we have here...Our Prefects maintain the houses and it is both mine and the Head Girl to keep the peace of all students. I do not really see it as a perk most days...especially when I'm under orders to deliver messages to all the houses.... He winked at her as they reached the base of the third floor and began walking upward, Though, in this case...today would be a perk.

As they made it into the castle, Shaylyn listened to Cayden’s response. [pink]I had no idea there was so much responsibility in being a prefect or a head boy or girl. The administration must trust you a lot to give you such a position. [/pink] They had made it to the base of the stairs. It was a bit of a walk up the stairs to the Sjenert Katt common room but it was already so much warmer inside than it was outside that she was even more excited to be sitting next to a roaring fire on a comfy chair. Plus having an awesome conversation with her great new friend was a big plus.
She had barely noticed his last comment and the accompanying wink but when it finally registered to her, it made her blush and since her cheeks had basically returned to their normal tone, it was totally noticeable. She never noticed how much she blushed in the presence of a cute guy before, but it was a bit embarrassing, so she looked down towards the floor as they walked up the stairs, in hopes that Cayden wouldn’t notice. [pink] Well, I’m glad you’re job could be more enjoyable than usual today. [/pink] She said sweetly, hoping the redness in her face had subsided.

Cayden couldn't help but grin in a boyish way as he noticed the blush of her cheeks and the way she looked down as she walked. It was sweet and adorable in a way....she reminded him of the stories of Sjenert the brilliant and beautiful founder of the house Sjenert. Such a gorgeous woman...with a beautiful mind and heart. He thought for a second of the way her innocent heart was taken by the dark wizard Mork Ulv so long ago as the came to the top of the fourth floor, as he climbed the West Tower they passed a painting of two icebears playing while their mother watched... He glanced at Shaylyn for a moment wandering if she even realized the significance of the painting or the Isbjorn home that lay behind it...
Cayden continued speaking as the started up the spiral staircase to the west tower. There is a lot of responsibility in being anything with title in this school. They trust me and I feel honored that they do. He looked out the stained red glass windows that cast a red light across the room at the top of the towers....a sculpture climbed up the wall and the red light seemed to cause an otherworldly glow.
He smiled at her and then stepped back, I'll let you do the honor of letting us within.

It was such a long walk all the way the Sjenert common room, but it didn’t seem quite as long as it did on her way down. Maybe because she actually had someone to keep her company on her way up; maybe because this someone knew the way to her common room better than she did and she didn’t spend half the time getting lost as she had earlier. Her cheeks finally returned to their non-blushing normal color after a few minutes, making her able to look around as they walked. She had explored the hallways a bit since she had been here, but she was pretty sure there was more to certain things than met the eye. She had heard there was another common room somewhere in the West Tower, but it could be behind anything for all she knew. It was like how the Sjenert common room was behind the statue they were finally approaching, of a Linx climbing up the wall. Cayden smiled at her and said she could let them in. It sort of embarrassed her to say the password to enter the common room. Her dialect was completely Brazilian and using that to say a Norwegian (right??) word sounded really awkward. But she said it the best she could (( I don’t feel like making up a password )) and the Linx climbed up the rest of the wall, revealing the door to the common room. As she walked in, followed by Cayden, there weren’t that many people around, Most were probably around the school, or the grounds, or possibly in their rooms but not here. [pink]So….where should we sit?[/pink] She asked, looking around at all the empty chairs around the room.
